The opentri.com ultra distance training program would have me in pre-season week 5, so that is where I will start this week. Weeks are monday - sunday. There are 22 pre-season weeks followed by 12 competitive weeks and finally 2 taper weeks up to race day.
The sum of this week is 2:30 hours of swimming, 5:30 hours of biking and 2:50 hours of running for a total of 10:50. Nice. I can handle that!
One of the things Pete has taught me is that over training is the best way to ruin a race. If I were to be at peak performance right now then I would have to hold that for 7 months and that would be completely exhausting. This is base training time.
